In over 30 years of experience as a dance theatre choreographer, psychologist, and museum guide, I developed a vital interest in the way we can experience art through dance and movement. Today I work closely with artists, art educators, and curators  - designing guided tours that facilitate this experience for participants.

PREPARATION

Student dancing at Museum

IN COLLABORATION WITH MUSEUM EDUCATORS AND GALLERY OWNERS I DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING FOR THE EXHIBITION AND THE ARTISTS. BASED ON THIS UNDERSTANDING I DESIGN A TOUR COMPOSED OF NARRATIVES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PARTICIPANTS.

EXECUTION

Student dancing at Museum

IN GROUPS OF 5 TO 15 PEOPLE WE ARE EXPLORING THE ARTIST´S FOLLOWING SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS, THE PARTICIPANTS INTERPRET AND EXPRESS WHAT THEY ENCOUNTER USING DANCE AND MOVEMENT. THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUAL MOVEMENTS AND COLLABORATION AMONG THE GROUP AT THE SAME TIME.

REFLECTION

A CRUCIAL PART OF EVERY TOUR HAPPENS AT THE END. PARTICIPANTS GROUP TOGETHER IN A CIRCLE AND REFLECT ON THEIR EXPERIENCE SHARING THOUGHTS AND LEARNINGS.

Preparation.

In collaboration with museum educators and gallery owners, I develop an understanding for the exhibition and the artist. Based on this understanding I design a tour composed of narratives and instructions for the participants.

Reflection.

A crucial part of every tour happens at the end. Participants group together in a circle and reflect on their experience sharing thoughts and learnings.

Execution.

In groups of 5 to 15 people, we are exploring the artist´s work following simple instructions. The participants interpret and express what they encounter using dance and movement. These instructions are designed to encourage collaboration among the participants.
